US customary as 21 CFR 101.7(j)–(k) lays it out; the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (15 U.S.C. 1453(a)(2)) also asks for SI metric. Figures are rounded down so the label never states more than the package holds.

  • With upper and lower case, the lower case "o" must meet the minimum height. 101.7(h)(2)
  • Each numeral of a fraction must be at least half the minimum height. 101.7(h)(3)
  • Letters no more than 3 times as high as they are wide, in bold type that contrasts with the background. 101.7(h)(1)
  • Clear space above and below at least the letter height; to the left and right, twice the width of an "N". 101.7(f)

That covers the net quantity line. Upload the whole label and RegaaS checks it against 300,000 US and EU rules. 3 free reviews, then pay per review.

A first check, not legal advice. Everything you enter stays in your browser. Covers food under 21 CFR 101.1 and 101.7; random-weight packages, multiunit packages and USDA-regulated meat and poultry have their own rules.
